If you’ve completed your MSN degree and want to broaden your knowledge base in preparation for entry into academia, this Post-Master’s Nursing Education Certificate track is designed for you. In this track, you will develop, test, and evaluate ideas relevant to the nurse educator core competencies, along with critically examining concepts and theories in relation to nursing practice, teaching-learning strategies, curriculum and course development, professional issues, and the monitoring and evaluation of student learning. Ethical, moral, and spiritual concepts are integrated into the curriculum to aid in the development of advanced knowledge and skills to better prepare you for servant leadership. These skills will prepare you to innovatively lead the profession of nursing forward. You will interact with a variety of interprofessional partners to explore best practices and will be able to enter a new nursing role as an academic nurse educator.
This track includes two practicum experiences working with approved, self-selected preceptors. The first practicum experience includes a 30-hour advanced clinical experience. The second involves a hands-on experience with a preceptor in the academic setting to complete 120-hours of practicum.
Upon completion of this track, students are educationally prepared to sit for the Certified Nurse Educator examination from the National League for Nursing.
